Jesus de Miguel has tragically died aged 30

Tenerife have confirmed the tragic news that Jesus de Miguel has died aged 30 following a collision in a game on Monday night.

The harrowing incident occurred in the closing stages of their Spanish Segunda clash with Andorra when De Miguel ran onto a long ball up the pitch. Just as he looked to bring it down, he was taken out by the flying knee of goalkeeper Jesus Owono, who was sent off for the challenge.

The 30-year-old lay motionless on the pitch for a few seconds before the players soon realised the severity of the situation and demanded medical treatment, with the match subsequently abandoned.

De Miguel was rushed to hospital, where it was confirmed in the early hours that his neurological condition was worsening, with the Spanish side confirming his death hours later.
